CAROLANN B Biography Carolann was born in Denaby Main a small mining village in South Yorkshire, near her home town of ROTHERHAM, her birthday being the 29th November. Carolann's unique voice and love of Country Music soon had crowds at a local restaurant where she had started singing as a favour for a friend, asking for more. A request from a local charity for Carolann to sing on stage for the climax to their fund raising weekend launched her to local stardom and gave her the confidence to start a semi-professional career way back in 1990 Carolann went on to make her first recording during 1998 called , a reference to her humble beginnings, And Toured in the USA singing at Venues in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee including the Ryman Auditorium. In 1999 she toured several US States including North Carolina and Branson Missouri. 2007 saw one of Carolann’s Dreams come true when she opened for one of her childhood idols in September of that year Mr. Ambassador of Country Music Himself, The Late Great Mr. George Hamilton IV at the Brigg Pavilion, plus a tour to the USA during November / December 2007. together with Christmas and New Years eve Parties rounded off 2007 on a high note.. Carolann’s new Radio show gave her an added boost to bookings and Carolann’s Entries into UKCountryRadio.com listeners club award were boosted by her airtime exposure leading to the entries being nominated as a finalist from 2009 to 2012, The 2012 song entered into the Listeners club award was ‘Don’t tell Me Your Not In love’ . The song did exceptionally well as someone set up an unofficial website on ‘Reverb Nation’ that showed the song in the top 10 for the Region. A Short break holiday in 2012, saw Carolann set up her Holiday Breaks at the hotel and these carried on with 3 very successful breaks taking place until the beginning of 2014, when Carolann’s Husband Barrie was booked into hospital in January for a major heart operation, caused by his hereditary Kidney disease. This put a brake on the Breaks so to speak. So then start of 2015, In February A New Acoustic CD with Allan Watkiss as the Carolann B DUO already recorded, then later in the year the CD was mastered and Called the ‘Acoustic Experience’
And so into 2016. 2 Years since Barrie’s op, and things are fingers crossed still progressing steadily, Still waiting for time to make another CD. But with Carolann B Break at the Royal Hotel Skegness together with a Mini Festival at the end of April and three breaks at the Monterey Beach Hotel each year means time for studio work is very limited To finished off on high spirits, our 2016 Charity work for the Rotherham Young Dementia Group grossed £1500.00 and was presented to their chairman [Photo’s on our Charity Pages] And finally after all this time we have managed to finalise our Charity Money for the Northern General Hospital and have now presented a cheque for £2,000 to Professor Ong at the Sheffield Kidney Unit Research Centre [See Charity Page for full information ]. Carolann is now looking forward to all the planned Carolann B Breaks lined up for the 2020’s as well as club booking and tours that have been arranged right through to New Years Eve 2022, but 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown has been decimated. Luckily the holidays that have been effected have been transferred to 2021 or in some cases 2022 has have most of the lost bookings, with a lot of 2021 decimated as well, but as always Carolann is still looking for Clubs to work at, in those parts of the Country that she has not had the pleasure of working during the last 25 plus years. As well as working with her Duo partner as “B & C Country” with Mr Ben Thompson on Guitar and Vocals, Ben of course being a ‘Solo’ Artist in his own right.
Now that 2022 is here it appears that things are picking up, some new tours on the cards with some of those new clubs scattered about in the tour areas, Our breaks are also going very strong, with one of the breaks being nearly double subscribed - so 2023 will see 2 breaks back to back over the January and February Months, so looking forward to another busy 12 months, and as we come to the end of another year we look forward to slowing down a little in the year ahead which will be Carolann’s 30th year
Looking forward to 2024, our Carolann B Breaks have been locked in, including the specials for the Hotels both midweek and weekends, and the venue bookings are starting to roll in and we have started sorting out the 2024 tours and Carolann is now looking for 2025 bookings having already booked into the diary the 2025 weekend breaks and several tours around the country as well as rebooking the 2024 and 2025 New Year Gigs. And as you will see from the Holiday side panel our Skegness weekend breaks has now moved venue to the Savoy Hotel on the Promenade at Skegness. And having spent a couple of days there, I’m sure all our guests will like both the venue, the staff and the excellent food.
Well 2024, holidays have been a roaring success at our new Venue at the Savoy Hotel Skegness. Thanks to all the hard work of the staff at this venue. We must be doing something right somewhere, our back to back weekends have only 1 room left on each weekend, our Tiffany’s hotel is full for April and we are on our standby list, hoping more rooms may become available. Our new Break in October 2025 at the Savoy at Skegness is selling well with about 8 rooms left for that and a couple of rooms only available at the Monterey Beach Hotel at St. Annes. A Full list virtually for the 2025 year for gigs, with just a few dates available mainly at the back end of the year, all our tours are now tied in, and we have even managed to get a few days off for a holiday in May.
2025 was out year ‘Horr Bilous’ , we had every intention as Barrie had reached 80 plus, to slow down in 2025, but not stop as we had too when he became ill in January and was hospitalised for a heart problem, in February but as usual he bounced back and by July he was back to 90% fitness, and was doing well till he contracted ‘Shingles’ in October and spent another month really ill. Luckily he is now back to about 90% again, and has said 2026 is going to be better, but we are still going to start slowing down next year and spread our tours out so that we are not doing gigs night after night, Barrie needs to odd days off now , so that’s the plan.
So 2026 has seen quite a few changes, we have moved some of our hotel breaks around and we now have a new Hotel in MARCH 2026 for a new holiday weekend break at THE BEDFORD 3 STAR HOTEL [see SIDE PANEL] AND CANCELLED OUR BREAK AT TIFFANY’S IN APRIL. Nothing wrong with the hotel, just couldn’t get the main ballroom so had to move., all our gigs and tours have now been locked in and with 7 breaks including midweek specials the year is still a little busier than I intended, but that’s how things go in this business.
One of Carolann's attractions on stage is her sheer love of Country Music that comes shining through, her knowledge of the Country Scene in that she picks songs that cater for both those that wish to just listen to the music and those that wish to dance and she manages to include in her act both New and Traditional Country that keeps all those at the venue happy. And of course a sparkling voice and personality that makes her new fans into friends.
